☆ CHARACTER INFORMATION
NAME: Karamatsu Matsuno.
CANON: Osomatsu-san.
AGE: 23.
CANON POINT: Episode 24.
BACKGROUND:
"I'm a sinful man— a guilt guy!"

PERSONALITY:
Karamatsu is actually a complicated individual who has a whole lot of feelings that he likes to conceal over a rock-star, heart-throbbing, razzle-dazzle personality that is mostly put on and even fake. On the outside, he seems to be overly kind and generous, gladly going well far out of his way for the people he cares about. He appears to be confident and flirtatious, wanting to win the hearts of as many people as he can which.. typically backfires tremendously. Karamatsu will do whatever he can to appear "cool" in front of a person, usually saying weird one liners that usually don't make much sense and that are casually ignored. He's very self-important and self-centered, wanting more than anything to grab people's attention with flashy clothing and impressive speech, which usually leads to accidental poetry in a conversation, or clashing attire just to turn the heads of other people. Truly, Karamatsu will do whatever it takes to stand out among a crowd of people.

It's never really explained why Karamatsu is so attention seeking, but it could possibly be because he's ignored and mistreated by everyone, including his family. They go out of their way to ignore him and even pick on him— he's definitely the punching bag of the group and is too nice to tell them off and grow a spine. Instead, bitterness festers within him instead of getting outright angry, mentioning several times in the series how he is tired of being treated coldly. Nevertheless, Karamatsu still remains the nice guy, never seeking to get revenge on those that treat him poorly. In fact, he still continues to be loyal and go above and beyond for them. It's partially because he is just naturally nice, but then he also probably wants so desperately for people's approval and favor. Even when people treat him meanly, Karamatsu usually doesn't stand up for himself, but rather just speaking and feeling sour about others behind their backs. He's very passive aggressive, and one day, Karamatsu may actually reach his limit and lose his temper.

He's jealous, mostly. Jealous of the positive attention the rest of his brothers receive, especially from Ichimatsu, who is spoiled and babied. To see other people gain more favor and attention over him really angers him, but because he wants to be seen as the "nice guy" he hardly allows it to show in front of others. Karamatsu has been seen showing anger and sadness when others are not around, wanting to appear strong and independent on his own.

He's not, though.

Karamatsu is needy when it comes towards his family members and finds it unfair that he cares so much for them, but is ignored by those he loves. He's co-dependent (and doesn't want people to know it.) And maybe that is another reason he is also extremely loyal to others is the fact he actually relies on their companionship. Karamatsu takes pride in the things he makes and the person he is. It's a bit much— it's almost as if he is trying to hide other insecurities about himself by appearing as if he has a high self-esteem.

Karamatsu is also pretty oblivious, not able to read the atmosphere well at all. You could say he's pretty dense, having a hard time catching on to hints or following conversations. He has no self-awareness in thinking before speaking and no shame in the things he has to say. The good news is he's pretty overly conscious of other people's emotions and wants nothing more than to get along with others and not cause them any strife.

All and all, he's a good guy, but a little much for people to handle in large doses.

ABILITIES/POWERS:
✔ Musician: Okay, he may not be the best singer, but his voice is tolerable. It's just the lyrics that are really bad. His guitar playing is simple and basic, but he can still carry a tune and play easy songs. He's getting better!

✔ Seamstress: In the comics, Karamatsu was noted to be good with sewing and making his own clothing. Maybe that's where he gets his obnoxious attire from. Whatever clothing he makes, it's usually for him, and it's usually very flashy.

✔ English: He speaks a lot of English words. He's not fluent, but he can probably communicate with English speakers enough to get by.

✔ Poetry/Writing: Karamatsu speaks in a very fancy, complicated away and seems to sprinkle poetry in average conversation. As a lover of drama and theater, Karamatsu is very good at thinking on the spot with these sorts of things.

INVENTORY:
✔ Leather jacket with a skull on the back.
✔ Sunglasses.
✔ Jeans with a skull belt buckle.
✔ White v-neck tee.
✔ Blue parka.
✔ Acoustic guitar.
✔ Cowboy boots.

WRITTEN SAMPLE: ( network post. )
[ It hasn't been the first time that Karamatsu has tried to do his own work to earn him some money, and most of the time, his work would go unappreciated and ignored. For whatever hopeful reason, however, Karamatsu continued to have an optimistic outlook and try and try, never wanting to give up. It was time for him to make his own business aboard this ship, and he had just the perfect idea.

Karamatsu had slaved all week to get everything needed for his grand reveal he would show to the Eluvio ship, though he was slightly nervous of the response. It's not something that Karamatsu would dare show in front of other people— an uncertain, nervous behavior. He needed to show them he was confident and sure of what he had created.
He had received a package recently of a small creature— blue in color and extremely fuzzy. Karamatsu was fond of his tribble, but had also taken notice that a lot of other people also had a tribble in their possession. And so, the idea began as he thought of ways he could make these little things even more adorable. And what better way to make them look better than to make little clothes for them? That's exactly what this was: a tribble clothing business.

Yeah, it's as ridiculous as it sounds.

It wasn't easy to get the correct measurements, but eventually, he had small collection of all sorts of shirts, jackets, and hats for the tiny puffball creatures. Some of them had skull print, some of them had pictures of his face on them. His current one looked pretty ridiculous adorable in a miniature leather jacket and tiny sunglasses to go over it's unseen eyes.
The video appears on the network and Karamatsu takes a moment to comb a stray piece of black hair off of his forehead. He twirls the comb idly in his fingers before sliding it in his back pocket. ]

Heh
. Salutations, my dear ship civillians. I know you have been perplexed, stressed, and not at ease with the idea that the little companions you have received have gone so long without proper clothing— impeccable fashion. I, too, worry for our little friends— more than anybody else aboard this entire fleet!

And so, see here, at how handsome my companion is now!
[ Karamatsu eases to the side slightly to show off his tribble proudly, lips lifting upward in a rather cocky smirk. ]

Ah, no doubt he will get a date in no time! I have clothing for possibly every occasion imaginable! Fine dining, mixer clothing, old Western, punk/goth, you name it!
[??? ]

If you are interested in these kinds of clothing, please contact me post-haste! It could be the only chance for these little guys to get laid!
[ ????? If you haven't turned off your communicator already, good job. You made it through an entire Karamatsu post bravely. It just gets more painful from here on out. ]

💀 Character Information
Name: Karamatsu Matsuno.
Canon: Osomatsu-san.
Canon Point: Post episode 25.
Age: "20 something."
Description: Ah, yes. A confident posture, sparkling teeth, thick lashes and that dashing bowl cut to match his brothers, Karamatsu radiates the aura of a person that he actually isn't, but wishes he could be. He tries very hard to make himself stand out, and, well, when you're so concerned about how people perceive you, you kind of have to try very hard to be different among your five other siblings, all with the same exact face. He's rather short for somebody his age (around 5'4") and tries very hard to be fit (he doesn't try at all) and really isn't. The most distinguishable features are his eyebrows on fleek and his painful sayings, sometimes spoken in English.

Really, he's nothing fantastic— but he would love for you to think so.

Physical changes: A pair of stubby, blue horns. Why? Because he'll absolutely hate it. Make him suffer. He's suffered so much in life, let's make him suffer in death because I'm mean. This will be a gradual change that will happen sometime after he stays in Hell long enough.
Powers: He can fall off the roof and survive. That's about it. There is nothing special about him. Nada. Nothing.

History:
(May contain spoilers.)

The series began as comic strips in the 1960's drawn and written by Fujio Akatsuka who always seemed to make up pretty weird characters with bizarre story lines. The series turned into a series about sextuplets who grew up together, causing trouble and being mischievous— usually working with each other to confuse adults. Even as children, they tried to work together to earn money or scam people.

As a child, Karamatsu seemed to have a tidy and particular personality, showing plenty of energy— he was always eager to fight, much like how he still is today— but his enthusiastic energy often caused him to get injured. It's probably bad luck, which has really followed him into adulthood to make him an unfortunate person through his entire life.
His name is a pun on "emptiness" in reference to his "empty head" and he has lived by his name even as a child by being a little airheaded and arrogant. As a child, he was often seen paired up with Todomatsu, the youngest, showing that they had a closer bond as children than when they become adults.

Nowadays, all six of them still live with their parents and are unemployed, and Karamatsu is no exception. Although he tries very hard to carry a presence and captivate others, at this point, his brothers tend to ignore him because they're usually embarrassed by him.

The series itself doesn't have much continuity / plot, as it is a comedy series that focuses more on their interactions with one another, and very little is said about their history. One thing is certain: despite all of their arguing and fighting, the sextuplets are all very close to one another and are shown throughout the series showing certain depths of codependency on one another. This is seen towards the end of the series when each sextuplet moves out to become independent, get jobs and live their lives on their own, but obviously miss each other. Karamatsu is the third one to leave and moves in with Chibita as an attempt to live on his own but makes the statement: "Us sextuplets— no, me— will be ruined" implying that he needs this change of lifestyle to feel better about himself. It was a self defense mechanism he used, seeing as he didn't want to be left behind in his life progress as his brothers excel.

In the end, however, they all end up moving back home and going to an invitational together, encouraging each other to proceed with their dreams. It seems they'll never really be apart from one another at this rate, seeing as their attempts to be independent have failed.

Hell Status: Limbo Case.
What Brings Them To Hell: Let's face it. Karamatsu is nice. He usually wants to protect and go above and beyond for a person, but the flaws he has are very strong and seen in his personality a lot more. He hits almost every single deadly sin big time: malicious envy, pride, lust, sloth, anger. What ultimately pushed him over the edge was suicide, feeling a sense of hopelessness. Though, maybe if he worked on his own problems, he would still be alive instead of having his own, self-absorbed problems get the best of him.

Karamatsu is so arrogant, he thinks he deserves Heaven, but what nobody is telling him is exactly what has happened to him on Earth: Nobody wants you because you're just too damn painful to deal with, it's embarrassing. Heaven doesn't want him and is trying to push him onto Hell, Hell doesn't want him and they're trying to push him into Heaven. I imagine it went a little something like this:

"Remember that time that he said he wanted to better himself and strive for world peace?! That's a good-doer if I ever heard one! Take him into Heaven!"
"How can you forget those cut-off shorts that say JUICY on the ass and sequin blue shirt with his own face on it..!?"
"...You bring up a valid point. We'll have to really think about this one."

The Pitch:
I have for you one useless piece of shit that is covered in cheap glitter! Won't you take him? ... Anybody? Well, uh..
I mean, he doesn't actually do much besides look in the mirror all day long and fantasize about how he wishes everybody could absolutely love him— or pay attention to him, but you know. He makes a great door stopper if you're looking for one.

Or a punching bag— Karamatsu loves to fight and get into violent arguments— especially if he has to protect somebody he cares about— but ends up defeated and beat into a pulp a lot. Even his brothers seem to push him aside, harm him, trample over him and leave him in agony, Karamatsu still has enough gusto to keep on going. If you're looking for something to vent your frustration off of in a more violent way, you could probably use him. It's kind of sad. He's always the one to die in the quick 15 minute skits, but that's kind of the reoccurring joke in the series.

One thing about him that is really important is the fact Karamatsu doesn't know who he is anymore. Karamatsu doesn't like his true self and wishes to be somebody else. He's a delicate, fragile guy who wants the world to think he's tough and a cool guy because he believes that is what people find attractive and he strives very much to be appreciated. Much to his dismay, his attempt to have other perceive him as something handsome, strong, tough and enticing always backfires. He's the king of bad luck and misfortune, but even so, that doesn't seem to prevent him from radiating confidence— he brushes the dust off of his bright and tacky clothing to move on, in dire search to find somebody or something to appreciate him. He tries very hard, only to be casually pushed aside by those he cares about because he's a bit too ambitious to the point where he comes across as desperate and embarrassing. He lives in his own delusional mind and almost has two personalities going on within his mind all of the time, feeling something but showing the exact opposite to the outside world. Basically, he's lying to himself and everyone around him and really doesn't know when to stop.

Karamatsu is so co-dependent, he cares about his brothers a bit too much and doesn't seem to get the hint that none of them actually really care about his existence, even when he tries to go above and beyond for them. This is also true for anybody he tries to romance, showering them with poetic words in passionate drama to where he ultimately gets shut down.

It's pretty annoying he just doesn't quit.

...Er, okay, well. Like I said, he does make a great door stopper!

Setting Fit:
One of Karamatsu's big things is to be completely available and free. When asked what his plans are for the rest of his life, he usually pulls off his sunglasses and says in a confident and happy tone: I HAVE NO PLANS!

The same is going to happen in Hell.

I imagine after time, though, Karamatsu is going to volunteer community service and try to win his way into Heaven. Like everything he does when he actually does something, he's going to try very hard. If he finds out any of his brothers are also in Hell, it might put a kink in his plans. I imagine if this doesn't go so well, he'll try desperately to befriend people— make friends! Lose his virginity! He didn't have many friends living, so he's gonna see if it's better in Hell to be social and make friends.
If that backfires, as it should, you' know.. he'll just wallow up in self pity and write a bunch of depressing monologues and poetry on how lonely he is.

I know, aren't they great ideas? I knew you'd love them.

[ AMARANTHINE ] ✖ application

Character Information
Name: Karamatsu Matsuno
Age: Canon never specifies other than "20's," so we're gonna go with 23 years old.
Canon: Osomatsu-san / anime.
Canon Point: Post episode 25.

Appearance:
(Prepare yourself for some painful images.)
1. | 2. | 3. (F6 version.)

Well, he's got the same face as the rest of his brothers considering they're sextuplets. Like all of them, Karamatsu keeps the bowl cut and seems overly concerned with its appearance, usually combing or fixing it in a mirror. His most distinguishable feature is his eyebrows which seem bold and intense— and between this and wearing the color blue is how you can usually point him out among the rest of his brothers. Karamatsu seems to have a bunch of attire to wear in a dramatic attempt to look "cool." He prefers to wear skinnier jeans when compared to the rest of his brothers and sometimes is seen with a golden necklace worn around his neck.

Also, he wears colored contacts sometime. Yeah. I know.

Background/History:

Personality:
He can be summed up the best by this gif.

Karamatsu is the second oldest of the Matsuno sextuplets. (by what.. a few minutes?) Because of this, he feels a need to carry a sense of big brother instinct, seeming to care immensely for all five of his brothers equally— as seen as he takes the extra mile when his brothers fall ill, or offering to sing them lullabies when they cannot sleep. Karamatsu seems eager to step up to the plate and offer his assistance / rescue others in need as a means of trying to find himself favorable in their sight. He's a kind spirit who is self sacrificial in order to be appreciated and noticed more-so than his genuine care (though, Karamatsu is a softie who acts tough.)

For whatever reason, Karamatsu gets the shit-end of the stick with things, finding himself in vulnerable and unfortunate situations more so than the rest. He's also the main object to pick on because of his embarrassing behavior, but that doesn't seem to stop him from keeping his chin high until he reaches a breaking point in which is seen when he's an over emotional mess.

One key thing about Karamatsu is his radiant confidence and dramatic presence that is nearly theatrical. He tries very hard to be charismatic which is often a big failure, but he has no fear in taking the risks for the sake of trying to be cool, showing his confidence and boldness. He's quick to make rash decisions, such as his terrible choice in attire or assuming girls are too nervous to speak to him when they're actually disgusted by him. This doesn't seem to get through to him— as he is probably living in his own little arrogant world.
Karamatsu is extremely vain, seen looking in a mirror multiple times during the series and being overly concerned about his appearance. When Jyushimatsu had a date, Karamatsu dressed up as if he was going on a date and was even fixing his hair— that's how self-centered and over conscious of how others perceive him he actually is.

Even with his unfortunate luck, Karamatsu seems to have a pretty optimistic personality and outlook on life. Yes, even when beaten, ignored and pushed aside, he seems to still illuminate confidence. However, there are a few instances where he goes into dramatic monologues about loneliness or not being accepted, showing that he really does feel hurt from being picked on when it becomes a bit too much. It has lead him to tears on several occasions, but it doesn't seem to last long, pretty soon putting on an overly cocky smirk to move on with his life.

Even though all of the sextuplets desire to have girlfriends, Karamatsu and Todomatsu seem to be the ones who try to flirt the most with girls. While Todomatsu seems to be the most successful, Karamatsu tries entirely too hard to impress girls to where it usually backfires on him from being so.. painful. He doesn't seem embarrassed or shy around girls more than he seems nervous— sometimes— to speak to them. Other times he speaks too much, which often gets him in trouble as he doesn't have much tact or sensitivity for his words or actions. He tries too hard to be charismatic and romance people, making him look like a tool.

He acts like he has a tough attitude, referring to girls as "ugly" (his teasing way to flirt) and wearing leather and sunglasses and throwing himself into reckless fights, but during an "interview" with Chibita he mentions that he wants three specific things: to better himself (recognizing his flaws), to do good for others, and world peace. Karamatsu speaks a lot of talk about being a good person in a prose kind of form with flowery words to emphasize his drama, but we hardly see him try to attempt these bigger goals he has in mind.

Despite all of this, however, Osomatsu states that it wouldn't be the same of Karamatsu was more tolerable, showing that they really do appreciate who he is and can be.

He has specific relationships with his brothers, as follows:
Osomatsu: The first oldest. For this reasoning, Karamatsu seems to share a unique relationship with Osomatsu. As Osomatsu feels a need to watch over his brothers, Karamatsu isn't an exception, encouraging him when Karamatsu frets he'll end up forever lonely. Karamatsu is seen washing Osomatsu's back when they bathe, but also feels as if he can go to Osomatsu for advice regarding his life. Even though all of them argue, Karamatsu is also seen actually standing up against Osomatsu towards the end of the episode, feeling comfortable enough towards him to punch him in the face. They are seen earlier in the series also fist-fighting.

Choromatsu: The third oldest. Karamatsu is hardly seen interacting with Choromatsu as much as he does with the other brothers, but if Todomatsu isn't questioning Karamatsu's behavior, Choromatsu will. When Choromatsu leaves to become independent first, Karamatsu shows nothing but congratulating behavior and encouragement.

Ichimatsu: The fourth oldest. Ichimatsu, though seemingly cold towards anyone, seems to have a specific intolerance towards Karamatsu. Despite this, Karamatsu doesn't seem to treat Ichimatsu any different from the rest of his brothers. He even backs him up when Ichimatsu was caught doing something embarrassing (trying on Karamatsu's awful clothing and getting caught by Osomatsu) by pretending to be Ichimatsu and encouraging Osomatsu to leave the scene. He also seems passive towards Ichimatsu's bullying when he breaks his glasses on purpose. Even with their tension in their relationship, Ichimatsu and Karamatsu are seen sleeping next to each other in the same big ole futon all six of them sleep in.. so they don't completely dislike each other.

Jyushimatsu: The fifth oldest. Jyushimatsu is probably the only pure one in this sinful place, and like the rest, Karamatsu also keeps an eye on him, referring to him sometimes as "dear Jyushimatsu" or "my Jyushimatsu." He feels like he can trust Jyushimatsu with secrets, bribing him with candy to keep his mouth shut— but also feels a sense of needing to protecting him, going so far as to getting stepping into a fight between he and Osomatsu and pretty much punching him through a wall to break it up.

Todomatsu: The youngest. As mentioned, Karamatsu and Todomatsu seemed to be closer as children. Even if they do not work in pairs together anymore, for whatever reason, Todomatsu seems to be Karamatsu's favorite. He's very interested in Todomatsu's life like the rest of them, and actually cried when Todomatsu lied to told Karamatsu that "you're my favorite brother" showing that Karamatsu desires to have his acceptance most of all.

Abilities:
Given the nature and comedy of the series, a lot of weird shit happens to Karamatsu. He seems to be the least fortunate of the 6 brothers and is seen enduring a lot of pain (burned at the stake, falling off of the roof) and surviving. Though, Karamatsu does enjoy a good brawl and tries to fist-fight, only to really getting his ass whooped in the end.
Also, he seems to know a variety of English words, but nothing has confirmed him to be fluent in English.

Also, he plays the guitar? That's a thing he does. According to the comic strips, he also knows how to sew. That's probably how he ends up with such an atrocious wardrobe.
