He's a guy that I've been gettin' close to while I've been here.

[a pause, he looks down. he has to get this out. he has to tell Karamatsu, even though Osomatsu is pretty sure that his twin will not take the news well. but he finally looks up, squaring his shoulders. he wants to tell Karamatsu first because they're close, and also because Karamatsu had confided in him earlier about something like this]

...He asked me out.

<sub>[ He's not really noticing the way that Osomatsu braces himself, lost in the tranquility of rich cake. It's really rich, but for some reason he isn't taking the milk. He's trying to show off he can handle this rich cake!
Though, Osomatsu ways something really surprising, and Karamatsu starts choking on himself.

Hold on a minute, he's going for the milk now. ]</sub>

_{[ and guzzles a good bit of it, finishing it off with a pssshhhaaa sound. ]}

Wow! Ah! So did you do it? Did you go outside and..
fight him!?

_{[ not that kind of asking out.. ]}

Wait. What???

He asked you out! Ah, asked you out for a scrap! Some rough-housing! Heh, did you win? Or were your string-bean muscles too weak for him?

[EHHHHH?] I... That's not what asking out is! He asked me out as in, like, to date me!

Karamatsu's face twists into confusion, much like Osomatsu's looks right now. It was like looking in a mirror! ]}

Ah, w..what? Date you? What for?
_{[ I'm sorry he sounds so unsure, niisan. ]}

[that's a very good question! WHAT FOR?]

Right? That's what I wanted to know! Like, I was truthful with 'im, yanno? I told him, "look man, I'm garbage. I'm an idiot." And he was still, like, "that's okay, I still wanna date you!"

Turns out, he wants to date me because he wants to!

Oh my God!
_{[ don't agree with him about this, Osomatsu. This is the worst thing you could possibly do. ]}

There isn't much time! We have got to stop him before it's too late! His poor confused heart... we should steer him into the right direction of somebody who is incredible!
_{[ GRIPS ONE OF OSOMATSU'S SHOULDERS..... ]}

[normally, Osomatsu might play into the panic. after all, there is a reason to, right? Lyle really is too cool for Osomatsu!

but then Osomatsu just thinks about what Lyle said to him: "And what if I think there is nothing wrong with you?"

there's a lengthy pause, and then he calmly pries Karamatsu's hand off his shoulder, looking serious again]

But. Lyle likes me. He wants to date me, Osomatsu.

_{[ Karamatsu's face twists into a slight frown. With a dramatic flourish, Karamatsu presses his fingers against his temple. ]}

Ah.. it is too late.. his heart has been deceived by your reliable charisma... before he realizes it, he will have no money in his wallet.. a horrible fate.
_{[ WISTFUL LOOK OFF INTO THE DISTANCE... ]}

I will stand by Kyle's side when he is robbed to the bone.
_{[ HIS NAME IS LYLE NOT KYLE. ]}

[you're making it sound like... well, Karamatsu's not exactly wrong to assume that Osomatsu's in it for some money-grabbing scheme. but still, that makes Osomatsu angry]

Lyle! His name is Lyle! An' just what are you thinking about your beloved older brother?!

Oh, nothing.. nothing.
_{[ Karamatsu rolls back and forth on his heels anxiously. ]}

I am merely concerned about how genuine all of this is.. that is all. What if you're dating him just for the benefit of dating someone? I thought your heart belonged to Totoko-chan!

...So you're allowed to look at other people, but I'm not? How many people have you flirted with since we got here?

_{[ SWEATS CONFIDENTLY... ]}

It is different for somebody like moi who has plenty of generous love to give to everyone!

His voice has tremors in it, though, as if something is about to break. ]}

[Osomatsu looks down at the floor, steeling himself for what he is about to say. then when he speaks, he keeps his gaze down, talking softly]

If Totoko-chan were here, it'd be one thing. But she's not, right? And even if she was, she has never asked us out unless we've had money.

[finally, he lifts his head]

She wouldn't wait for us, so I'm not waiting for her. I'm tired of waiting, Karamatsu. Someone here wants to date me right now, someone who is cool and funny, and really good-looking! Why should I wait for a girl that doesn't have any interest, who might never be brought to Riverview at all?

<sub>[ Osomatsu has a valid point. Up until now, Karamatsu wasn't sure why he would show interest in other people. Totoko was the girl! You know.. the girl. They grew up having a crush on her and to throw all of that away.. it was ludicrous to think of.

And yet.. Karamatsu had grown all sorts of feelings for all sorts of people between now and then-- between his home, Eluvio and here and he didn't quite understand why or how to deal with it until Osomatsu talks.

His expression and posture softens slightly. He's quiet for a moment. ]</sub>

... Ah.. you're right.
_{[ LOOK AT THEM AGREE ON SOMETHING. ]}

[of course he is right! he’s big brother! though... Osomatsu actually looks a bit surprised that Karamatsu agrees with him so readily. it knocks some of the wind out of his sails.

after a moment, he sighs, reaching over to catch a part of Karamatsu’s shirt in between his fingers. he’s so tired of fighting with him. they bicker a lot, but Osomatsu still cares about him]

I’m. Gonna be happy about this. I just wanted you to know, too. Okay?

<sub>[ The more that Osomatsu talks, the more Karamatsu seems to listen. Everything he's saying are things that Karamatsu can agree with— he just did not know how to put it into words until now. The fact that Osomatsu feels so strongly about this-- his words are filled with determination-- it moves Karamatsu in a way. After all, he does want the best for his brothers.

A miracle happens, right then and there. Karamatsu smiles, cupping both of his hands over Osomatsu's that is gripping his shirt. ]</sub>

—I want you to be happy about this too.
_{[ ??????? ]}

[eh? maybe Osomatsu got through to him. or maybe this is just the calm before the stupid storm blows past. but of that moment, Osomatsu looks pleased, smiling even at Karamatsu's words. he doesn't have anything to add it them, really]

<sub>[ And Karamatsu is smiling back? You know, for now. Whatever jealousy is burning inside of him is concealed by a mask of joy. Sure, he really is happy for Osomatsu, and maybe the fact that Osomatsu is saying things that Karamatsu agrees with is also helping this situation. It's kind of like when Choromatsu left, right? Karamatsu was happy for him, but he also wanted to catch up with him. It sucks, though. Finding a job and finding romance are different-- and he has a job here, however little he works.

There's a small silence exchange before Karamatsu releases Osomatsu's hand. ]</sub>

Heh. Well then. If you need any dating tips, you are fortunate to have an expert for a younger brother. However, I will stress--
You better not vanish into the void of amour and leave us behind. After all, as the oldest, you do have two younger brothers here that need your support.

_{[ Says Karamatsu, Mr. Independence. Everything about this conversation is hypocrisy, but maybe Osomatsu won't notice. ]}

[Osomatsu releases Karamatsu's shirt, taking a step back to give them both some space]

Like I'd leave either of you. [really, his brothers are his treasures. just because he's dating doesn't mean he'll forget about them. i mean, he got asked out, and he brought home cake for them because he wanted to spread the good will around.

besides, it was Karamatsu who was the one who broke away first, wasn't it? Osomatsu won't say that] I'm pretty sure we're all gonna be stuck together for a long time.

_{[ Shh. Don't tell Karamatsu that he was the one that broke away. That will just make him upset and you both are doing just a grand job getting along for now. At the reassurance, Karamatsu feels another smile creep on his face. It's just another excuse for him to hide the jealousy that burning in him right now. Hopefully Osomatsu won't notice, but maybe he already knows from being such an observant big brother. ]}

Ah? What makes you say that? Especially now since you have someone who has captivated your heart? At this rate you will be the first one to leave, heh.

We’ll see. [he laughs lightly, then stretches. he still doesn’t think he’ll be leaving his brothers, no matter what happens. maybe he doesn’t think his relationship will last] Well, I’m gonna head to bed. I’m bushed. [he was playing in that game all afternoon, then had a bunch of drinks so he’s still a little buzzed, then dinner. it’s time to rest!]
